A Day in the Life of a Pup

6:30 am - But it's so cozy!

6:45 am - If I let you make the bed, can I get back on it?

7:00 am - Still so sleepy!

9:30 am - Finally manage to make it downstairs to watch for squirrels while Mom leaves without me.

11:30 am - Feign innocence, "Why, yes, Mom! I've been lying here the whole time you've been gone!"

11:31 am - Uh-oh. She noticed the trash I got into. Her baked potato scraps from McAlister's were soooo good...

11:35 am - Uh-oh. She noticed the soft tacos fixin's I got off the counter. I liked the cheese. I didn't care for the lettuce.

11:36 am - I am so ashamed. I will never do whatever I did again.

11:37 am to 2:00 pm - Ever vigilant. I watch for squirrels.

2:01 pm - Mom takes me in the car. I hope we are going to Sonic. They like me at Sonic. They scritch me through the window. I just have to shove Mom out of the way a little. If only they would come to my side of the car. They always bring sweet, cold things to eat. Sometimes Mom lets me have a taste. But only a little. Sometimes we take Daddy a sweet, cold treat. Today I am watching for squirrels out the back window.

3:12 pm - The trip in the car wore me out. Back to couch with me. This is my Batdog impression.

4:05 pm - This is Salvador Dali's Dripping Dog.

4:45 pm - Daddy will be home soon. I know it.

5:12 pm - Daddy is home! This is the best part of my day. He is the most wonderful person ever. He scritches my ears and wrestles with me. He feeds me every morning and lets me out to chase squirrels.

10:32 pm - What a full day I have had. I will rest my head on Daddy's feets while we all go to sleep.

This is a funny picture of me. I am wearing the Cone of Shame. I seem excited but I'm not.

Friday Five

First of all, shout out to my mom! The only person who reads this. But she's the most important, you know! :)

I'm starting a new feature. I guess all features are new at this point, but you know. Every Friday I plan to list five mini-goals I plan to achieve over the weekend. So, this weekend I plan to:

  1. Prep for Sunday's Bible study.

  2. Spend time outside, preferably in the pool.

  3. Watch an excessive amount of Netflix.

  4. Organize the linen closet.

  5. Purge the future nursery of all unwanted/unused items.

So there you have it. I will report back with my success! :)

Organize : Your Daily Schedule

So, you'd think that after two years I'd get this whole "staying home" thing down. You'd be wrong.
In an effort to organize my time (and be sure I actually get things done during the day!), I attempted a daily/weekly schedule. It looked something like this:
6:30 morning routine (things like making the bed, making David's lunch, breakfast, etc)
7:00 quiet time
7:30 gym
10:00 shower
10:30 household tasks (actual chores - vacuuming, laundry, etc)
11:30 desk work (making appointments, budgeting, grocery list making, etc)
12:30 lunch
1:30 household taks (things I enjoy more than chores - organizing, decorating, etc)
2:30 free time (TV, interwebs, etc)
4:00 prep for David to come home (get the home fires burning, start dinner, etc)
5:30 dinner
6:30 gym
8:30 free time
9:30 evening routine (tidy up, prep for tomorrow, etc)
10:00 quiet time

Recently, I switched morning quiet time with morning routine so that my quiet time is the first thing I do in the mornings. However, I have recently realized that I am not an early riser. I hear time and time again that I need to rise with my husband and go to bed with my husband. I just can't seem to rouse at 6:30. I didn't think this would be an issue because this was the time I woke up all through high school. I guess after years of not getting up at 6:30 are working against me now. So, needless to say, that morning quiet time wasn't even happening.
So I'm attempting to develop a new paradigm regarding my time at home. Perhaps more of a list. And baby steps - definitely baby steps.

  • Step 1: Get up at 7:00 am.

  • Step 2: Make a list of three tasks that MUST be done each day. And do them.

  • Step 3: Go to bed at 11:00 pm.

Three steps that I can take to win back my time. I find that the more emphasis I put on something, the less likely I am to do them. Weird, I know.

In other news, the new Breaking Dawn trailer is out! I'm so excited but so sad to see the franchise come to an end. I know when I finished the books, I felt so...sadly...empty. Haha! So we'll see how I do with the movies. All I know, is it will be epic! How they are going to cram all that into two two hour movies, I have no idea! :)

Outdoor Changes!

We've been doing some major yardwork today. Ugh. It was hot and messy but needed to be done. After much drama we finally got the notice that the city is going to be picking up our brush on the 6th. However, sadly, they say they'll only take eight cubic yards. Does this mean they won't take all our brush? Or will they only take some of our brush?

The suspense is killing me...I hope it lasts... (name that movie!)

We trimmed all our trees (the palms look stellar) including the backyard trees, mowed, edged, and weed-ate(?).

The biggest news is we got a "pool!"
It's a 10x7 pool that you can buy at Target for $22! David did have to blow it up, but thanks to his awesome dad, he had the air compressor to do it. We'll see what Rock thinks of his new pool! Haha!

I will post pics of our yard/trees later. Promise! :)

No comments found.

This is the most depressing message to get from your blog. I suppose it's because I haven't posted anything interesting enough to comment on. And today is no different.
A simple report on my day: gym, Bible study, Hoarders, and XMEN at the DRAFTHOUSE with our close friends! So, all in all, good day. Nothing exciting, though. The end.
Well, not really. I will post a quick rant about the lack of sno-coneage in SA. I drove by the only sno-cone stand I know of here and it was closed. At noon. On the day after school let out!? What gives?! Reason #829 why I want to move back to Oklahoma... :)

26?!

I set out hoping to have an amazing day today - for a relatively small amount of money.
It all started with the most amazing husband ever waking me up with breakfast in bed - McDonald's Bacon Egg and Cheese McGriddles! Yum! What a special treat!
I had a slow morning, watching trash - Jersey Shore.
Then I put on a special dress and went out to eat at Chili's where I had another special treat - Honey Chipotle Chicken Crispers! They're basically my favorite but they're on the Eat This, Not That worst meals in America list, so I typically refrain. :)
Went to Books-A-Million. David wants to get me some magazine subscriptions for my birthday so I got to pick out the June issues I wanted. I picked up Better Homes, Glamour, Cosmo (not sure about that one), Women's Health, Shape, Self, and a couple of other magazines for upcoming exciting events.
I popped into Ross (picked up another sundress on clearance!) and Target. Now I'm home browsing blogs and waiting for David to get home!

I know this was super boring, but I had to set out to have an awesome day so that I wouldn't get all down about being 26. Really, I don't think I'm upset about it. Honestly, I'm more freaked out by David being 25! Haha!

I'm really excited about this year. We're planning some family changes and that's a big, freaking deal. We're also planning on finishing the house (finally!). Oh, and the biggie of becoming debt free in the next few months. So this is going to be a big year!

Also, I'm planning on posting here pretty much daily. We'll see how that holds up! :)

**edit**
And the way we ended the day? I totally got to have a Papa John's applepie for dinner! David indulged in their "local favorite" jalapeno cheese sticks. Cuddling on the couch with the husband and the pup = couldn't be happier. :)
